Returned Funds
International funds can be returned for various reasons
My funds have been returned
International SWIFT payments can fail and be returned for a number of reasons. The most common causes are listed below:
- Incorrect or incomplete recipient details (e.g. wrong account number, IBAN, or SWIFT/BIC code)
- Mismatched information (e.g. recipient name does not match the account details held by the receiving bank)
- Insufficient funds
- Bank account issues (e.g. the recipient's account is closed, frozen, or unable to receive international transfers)
- Intermediary bank problems
- Regulatory compliance issues
It’s also worth noting that funds may be returned if the payment originated from a jurisdiction, or was sent in a currency, that your Business Account does not support. If you are unsure whether your account supports a specific currency or country, please contact us before attempting to resend the payment.
